Certification Committee

Purpose/Mission – The Certification Committee assists HR professionals obtain and/or retain the desired HR certification through study preparation groups, opportunities for recertification credits, and programs of scholarships and sponsorships. At this time a study preparation group for the PHR and SPHR certifications is held each spring and fall prior to the designated testing windows.
Certification Scholarship Program
· Companies/individuals – donate to a scholarship program so CRHRA members who would otherwise do not have the means to pay for the certification exams can sit for the tests.

Sponsorship Programs
CRHRA is pleased to offer the following corporate sponsorship programs, which recognizes the value of professional certification for our members and the businesses who support them.
$1,000 Primary Sponsor with the following value:
• A quality 3 ring binder with the company logo to each class participant
• A half page company ad in the CRHRA Newsletter for the 3 months the class is running
• Verbal recognition of the company at all CRHRA events while the class is running
• Company logo on the letter for all participants who achieve certification
• Free enrollment for 1 company employee in the certification study group
$500 Secondary Sponsor with the following value:

Cost: $175.00 for CRHRA members. $255.00 for non-members.
The Basics: All classes start at 6:00 pm each evening and run, depending on subject matter, no later than 8:00 pm. Each class, except the 1st night, will have a 10 minute break and light refreshments will be available. All classes will be held in the Living Resources Boardroom (special thanks for this donated space!). Certified CRHRA members facilitate each session.
Exam Criteria: For PHR/SPHR – 2 years of exempt level professional experience where at least 51% of the work involves HR. Students who will graduate in 12 months or have graduated within 12 months with a Bachelors or Masters degree may sit for the PHR exam. It is highly recommended that HR professionals have 2-4 years experience before taking the PHR exam and 6-8 years of experience before taking the SPHR exam.
IMPORTANT NOTE: December 2010 – January 2011 is the LAST opportunity to sit for the exam under the current criteria. After January 2011, students or recent graduates WILL NOT be able to take the PHR exam. In addition, the professional standards have been raised and current qualified HR professionals may not be able to sit for the exam. Go to www.hrci.org for more information.
HRCI also offers online Assessment Exams for the PHR and SPHR. These tests have questions that were previously on the exams, which give participants the format that will be used and idea of which areas of knowledge & experience will need attention. It is highly recommended that anyone unsure of their decision to seek certification at this time or which certification to pursue consider the Assessment Exams. The cost of each exam is $45 or both can be purchased for $70. The PHR and SPHR exam fees and process to sign up for the exams is on this HRCI web site.
